C8: Drone Technology – Assembly Focus

Aim:

To identify and present real-life ways drones are helping society, and to imagine one new drone use for your own community.

Requirements:

  • Internet or pre-downloaded drone videos (YouTube, DroneBlocks, etc.)

  • Worksheet or chart paper

  • Markers, pens, sticky notes

  • Teacher supervision for discussion

Step-by-Step Hands-On Process

Step 1 – Watch and Observe

Watch short videos of drones in action:

  • Drone delivering medical kits

  • Drone spraying crops

  • Drone rescuing people during floods

Note what problem each drone is solving and who benefits.

Example: A rescue drone saves people faster during floods.

Step 2 – Discuss and Classify

As a group, discuss:

  • What kind of problem did the drone help solve?

  • Was it helping people, animals, or the environment?
Write your answers in a table:

Drone Example

Problem Solved

Who It Helps

Medical Drone

Delivering vaccines to villages

People

Crop Drone

Fertilizer spraying

Farmers

Search Drone

Finding flood victims

Rescue teams

Step 3 – Brainstorm “Drones for My Community”

Now imagine:
If your town or school had a drone, what problem could it solve?

Examples:

  • A “School Safety Drone” that monitors traffic near gates.

  • A “Green Drone” that collects plastic bottles from rivers.

  • A “Delivery Drone” that brings medicines to elders.

Write or draw your idea on chart paper.

Step 4 – Design Your Poster

Create a poster titled “Drones for Good”:

  • Include one big picture or sketch of your drone.

  • Label its parts and write its mission (what it does).

  • Add one slogan like:

“Helping Hands from the Sky” or “Flying for Humanity.”

Display posters in your classroom or hallway.
