Why We Host Makeathon?
At Karkhana Makerspace, Makeathon aren’t just a coding contest — it’s a platform where students, startups and changemakers come together to solve real-world problems using technology, design, and pure creativity.
We’ve empowered 1000+ innovators across Odisha (Phase 1) to turn ideas into impact with our partners.
The latest edition took place at Nalanda Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, under the call “Generate, Sustain, Automate.”

With panels featuring the Shri Krushna Chandra Patra (Odisha Science & Technology Minister) and UNDP leadership, Season 2 crowned winners received ₹100,000 in prizes, along with runner-up and innovation/business awards.
The first season set the stage for multi-disciplinary innovation across themes like agritech, healthtech, mobility, and sustainability.
Hosted collaboratively by Karkhana and AIC–Nalanda, it provided students and professionals with mentorship, funding, and access to makerspace infrastructure. Top teams earned incubation and ongoing support to scale their solutions.
This 36‑hour in-person hackathon at SOA’s Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) in Bhubaneswar brought together over 200 student developers to tackle pressing challenges in disaster management, education, healthcare, and tourism.
Recognised as the state’s largest coding event, it featured a keynote by Former Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, who encouraged students to shift from job-seeking to job-creation. Participants raced to build real solutions—many of which went on to receive incubation support and internship opportunities from partners.
